We have been running the Bath Challengers Tournament for a couple of years now. This is a tournament for newcomers, inexperienced over the board players and ‘improvers’ who don’t get included regularly in league chess. It has been a great way of introducing people to competitive chess, and for giving established players more rated games.
Congratulations to this year’s overall winner Dmitriy Borodkin, who triumphed in a group despite being outrated. Dmitriy has managed to increase his rating from 1415 to 1633 over the season, which is also a tremendous achievement.
